Two former UPNFM students and graduates of the Languages Center, Emil Floricia Vasquez Reyes and Jeimy Paola Cabrera Meraz, have been accepted to begin a Master´s of Scientific Investigation in Sustainable Tropical Agriculture at the prestigious Universidad Zamorano. Additionally, they both received full scholarships for this program, funded by the Nippon Foundation. To be accepted into this program, both Emil Floricia and Jeimy Paolo had to go through a rigorous application process. They competed against other national and international applicants, filling out an online application, writing personal documents, completing an admission test that included eight different parts, and going through a final interview. They believe that the Languages Center at the UPNFM helped open the doors to this program for both of them. Being a student at the Languages Center helped them grow in their academic reading and writing, which helped immensely in this application process. Specifically, there were told by the interviewer that their essays were structured very well, something they learned to do at the Languages Center.

Emil is excited to study the Master’s because she desires to develop projects in Honduras focused on sustainable agriculture. Because she is already familiarized with agriculture, she hopes to contribute through projects that promote food security in Honduras. Jeimy is excited to develop scientific research and apply it in Honduras, and is hoping to develop projects regarding biotechnology and developing agricultural technology. We wish them best as luck as they move onto this next stage beginning in August!
