Membership in the INLCP

Requirements

To participate in the INLCP the language centers and university programs should meet the following requirements:

  1. To be established and recognized by a local, regional or international organization as a language center (e.g. networks, universities, embassies, binational/cultural centers or language center associations).
  2. To have a minimum of a year working as a language center.
  3. To nominate a candidate who has knowledge of the English language to represent the local center before the network.
  4. To be willing to participate in academic mutual collaborations with UPNFM and other centers in the Network.
  5. To participate in the webinar as participants and/or presenters.
  6. To participate in the International Language Centers Conference in November 2017.
  7. To have available a member to participate of the Executive Board.

Leadership

By the end of 2018, an Executive Board will be elected so they can provide ideas on how to improve the activities of the network. The Executive Board members will be the coordinators/directors of the language centers and will serve as a consultant body related to academic exchanges, research projects, regional grant proposals as well as to the constant development of the faculty members of the language centers.

 

Responsibilities

Being a member INLCP comes with a number of responsibilites:

  1. To provide a specialist to help with leading webinars.
  2. To assure faculty attendance to the webinars.
  3. To be punctual to the webinars.
  4. To provide feedback for the webinars and other trainings.
  5. To provide links, articles or any other information to help improve language centers.
  6. To be available to participate in research projects about language teaching or language centers. Research projects will have to be published and shared with other language center members of the Network.
  7. To be willing to participate in the first International Conference for Language Center to be held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in November 2018.

Cosponsers

To assist with the development of these activities in Honduras and to contact specialists in the teaching field, the Embassy of the United States of America in Tegucigalpa will be the official cosponsor of the network. It is expected that for events held in locations other than Honduras, the local centers will find their own cosponsors.

Other cosponsors will be people, organizations, and institutions that support the activities of the Network financially or with other types of resources.

The participation as a member of the network does not require a membership fee but rather the active participation of the members.

WEBINARS

Webinars provide an opportunity for educators all around the world to listen to specialists talk about different aspects of language centers and language programs

CONFERENCES

Conferences provide a great experience being able to learn from and teach others about work going on in your language center or program. Conferences also provide the opportunity to collaborate on different projects.

RESEARCH COLLABORATION

Using the new website, participants are able to share research on different apsects of lanuage centers, language programs, and language learning.

2015

Conversations begin between UPNFM and other institutions around the world, converations begin to turn into collaboration.

2017

Webinars continue, network gains support.

2016

Idea of the network proposed by the UPNFM, official invitations sent out, and network formed. First webinar takes place in September, 2016.

2018

Webinars continue, and the first conference takes place in November 2018 in Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras.

Margot is a teacher of English, has her Bachelor´s in education and her Master´s in ICTs applied to Education. She also has diplomas in administration and management. Her main area of interest is the integration of ICTs to EFL / ESL classes.

Gloria Ulloa has her Master´s in TESOL and her PHD in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Southern Illinois. She has been an instructor of EFL for more than 25 years and currently is the Director of the Languages Center at the UPNFM. Her research interests include language centers, writing centers, and the development of writing skills of ESL students

Dr. Hernandez studied literatura iberoamericana in IBERO Pueblo as his undergraduate education. He recieved his Master´s in Gestión de Capital Humano from IEST Anáhuac. He studied Ciencias Políticas y Administración Pública for his Doctorate degree from the UANL. Furthermore, he studied Gobernanza en Facultad de Derecho in the USAL Is from Tampico, Mexico.

About the INLCP

The International Network for Language Centers and Programs is an group of 16 language centers and programs from 12 different countries. It was officialy formed in 2016 by the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán, and managed by the Languages Center that is a part of the UPNFM.
