Program Balance and Other Factors Affecting Proposal Selection

The conference board reviews the proposals for the conferences striving to make the program relevant to a diverse range of professionals and scholars working with English learners at all ages and various stages of language development in different contexts. As a result, they select proposals based, in part, on program balance. They consider the following:

  • range of topics within the ELT profession
  • relevance to attendees
  • strand coverage
  • presenters’ apparent level of expertise
  • professional and geographic distribution of presenters
  • Proposal Rating Rubric

When evaluating proposals, reviewers use all six of the criteria in the proposal rating rubric. Abstracts and session descriptions should be clearly and concisely written to convey the session’s significance and its appropriateness to the field and its intended audience. Carefully written and edited, they should demonstrate evidence of a high quality of research and/or practice, as applicable, as well as clear evidence that the session will be well organized and presented.

Factors Disqualifying a Proposal

  1. The conference selection board does not receive the proposal by the deadline.
  2. The proposal is not received electronically via the link.
  3. The proposal is incomplete or not completed according to the guidelines in this call for participation.
  4. The same or a similar proposal is submitted to more than one strand or session type.

Welcome to the INLCP

The International Network of Language Centers and Programs

had a simple beginning: conversation between the Languages Center of the UPNFM in Honduras and with various universities and language centers around the world. These convesations, which began in 2015, turned into collaboration, and this collarbation turned into an official network. This network of language programs and centers allows academic collaboration among these organizations to share about their teaching of second/foreign languages, new teaching trends, and innovative classroom practices. There will also be a continuous conversation on how to improve the administrative functionality of our language centers. This collaboration takes place through webinars, research sharing, and other ways.

This partnership is understood as the preparation for the first International Conference for Languages Centers that would be held in Honduras on November 5-9, 2018.
